Mother Willow
13”H x 28”W
Willow, Japanese Larch, waxed linen.

Stripping the leaves and bark off recent cuttings of Willow branches from my garden, my studio was filled with the clean fresh scent of the harvest. I fell in love with the smooth white surface of the slender branches and hoped to convey a sense of fragility and elegance by creating an open structure.

This piece represents the abundance of nature, but also its fragility. It signifies all that exists in the natural world and our responsibility to care for it.
